REKINDLE PROJECT

        In the past year i've realized that as i've gotten older, genuine, deep human interaction has become harder for me and a lot of other people to obtain. I have friends that ive known for the majority of my life and then I realized I didn't know them as well as I thought I did. For this project, I focused on getting to know the people in my life more. By drawing these people and asking them a series of questions, I've noticed that people feel more connected to me.

       My pieces consist of the person drawn with pencil while their hair is colored with highlighters and markers representing the individuals favorite color. The drawing is surrounded by one of the person’s responses to one of my questions. I loved doing this project not only because it made work on technique but also because it helped me understand the people in my life so much more. I think that a lot of times we see people just as an individual in our lives and not as a human being who has feelings, and beliefs, and values. We've lost connection with each other as people and if we just took a little time out of our day to understand someone, a lot of the problems our society would be fixed.
